Many of you know about our obsession with Maui. And let’s just say that Maui better watch it’s back because Kauai may have stolen a little bit of real estate in our hearts. If you read our recent blog post about our trip to Maui earlier in the year, then you may remember that our flight to Maui got snowed out and we couldn’t leave for another 24 hours. In return, Alaska Airlines, quite possibly the best customer service oriented airline EVER, gave us some hefty vouchers for future flights. The snow wasn’t their fault obviously, but they really went the extra mile to make us happy! So, with a busy year scheduled ahead of us, an expiration date on these vouchers that wasn’t to far off, and a week of no plans in April (the week of Audrey’s birthday no less)… one word came to mind. Kauai.
Now being this spontaneous is not for the faint of heart. Booking a trip 4 days before you leave is not something you should try at home, kids. HOWEVER. Lesson learned: When you book the week before the trip, condos and car rentals that still are unbooked will drop their prices in pretty significant fashion to fill those dates. So, not only did the flights come at the worlds smallest price tag, the cost of staying on the island was suddenly shockingly low. All things paired together to make the trip about as perfect as you can hope for. No time to stress about planning for the trip, no big worries about the cost of the trip, and nothing to do but explore one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen, go back to the condo each night and make coconut crusted mahi mahi with mango salsa, and then do it all again the next day.
SO, here are 50 photos of this magical island, and let each photo count as a reason that you need to see this place before you die!
